I work in line with the theories and practices set out by C.G. Jung. (See weblinks below) Our Commitment to Each Other One the most important factors in therapy is that we feel comfortable with each other. We can never be friends in the traditional sense, but at some basic level we have to connect. So the first session is an opportunity to see if we can work together, where you can tell me what you are looking for and I can give you an indication of what to expect. After the initial session we work together for 6 weeks and then review the situation to decide whether this really is right for us. Costs The fee is a very important part of the process. My fees are proportional to your ability to pay and how that fits in to your part of this process. Hearing and Listening Though I work in line with the theories and practices developed by C.G. Jung, my practice incorporates methods used by other schools of thought. This means that the treatment of the individual grows out of the therapy. This results in the best treatment for you. I have found that given the correct environment most people find the right solution by themselves and by doing so they build an unshakeable foundation to their personality. My role is to provide that environment by making the work we do safe, calm and non-judgemental so that a way though can be found. Compassion, empathy and trust are fundamental qualities of therapy and I also use dreams to keep us on the right path. They are a way of observing ourselves which are not subject to the same foibles as our conscious selves. Our role in therapy is to discover their relevance, which may be to alter an understanding or open a new path for us. Only the dreamer really knows when a point of view is correct. They experience a moment of clarity when they feel they have discovered a truth. Confidentiality I create a space where individuals can experience and explore themselves, and feel safe. I take the Hippocratic Oath very seriously, whose essence is that it is my duty to act in the individual's best interest and to keep what they tell me secret. I abide by the Code of Ethics of the UKCP. C.G. Jung Websites Jung's Biography in Wikipedia Good Introduction to Jung's Thought including "Jung on Himself: A Biographical Sketch" |
